I feel like we're also seeing the cool girls have a return to *hobbies.* And not in an experimental jack-of-all-trades kind where they start and drop them on a whim. My IRL cool girl friends don't shout it from the rooftops, but I'll find out that they've been on a shuffleboard team the last two years, do salsa every Tuesday, or are members of a bouldering gym.

Wearing outfits that aren’t flattering is the whole vibe and I love it. Also love just the notion that it’s COOL to have some level of mystery and take a step back from “traditional” social media

I’m with you on this - I actually wish my job didn’t rely on social media as much as it did. I aspire to be the aloof, not-on-her-phone, girlie. And HONESTLY, ‘flattering’ can ALWAYS do one.

Holy FUCK the linked in one is CRAZY: I honestly just had the convo about it 2 hours ago. I hadn’t been on there since 2020, and it also took me a MINUTE! But now I’m fully treating it like IG and desperate to quit IQ guess I’m a cool girl, thanks 😎😎

hahah i agree! im into being lowkey right now, not going ghost but being subtle and private. but also deciding that adhering to whatever microtrend is happening is lame, even knowing microtrends is kind of lame. i don't want to spend that much time online.

the podcast! Check out Sisterhood of the Traveling Rants; I happen to be buds with one of the gals and it definitely sounds like that trio's group chat. I love it.

"Reading long form to feel something again" defintiely resonated. I just joined Substack not too long ago and it has been such a breath of fresh air in comparions so short-form

The LinkedIn one is interesting! There’s definitely been a conflation of the social media platforms recently — short form video on LinkedIn, long form on Substack, IG still being chaotic as ever. I like that there are no rules at the moment when it comes to these platforms!

YES! LinkedIn, took me a minute to figure out WHAT was going on when I logged in after that hiatus. I love this take and you hit the nail on the head with IG. When is it never not chaotic? 😂🙌

Yes to the rambling podcasts! And they are journaling. With pens and paper, no screens! Or is that just me?
